PADI Assistant Instructor Print

We can also offer Assistant Instructor (AI) training as an internship or as a full or part time course, conducted by our experienced IDC Staff Instructors and overseen by our resident Course Director.  It can also form part of a "full" IDC leading to the PADI IE and OWSI.  However, not everyone is ready to take on the responsibility of being a OWSI, so if you feel that you need more time to adapt to dive leadership roles, AI is an interim step between Dive Master and OWSI and equips you to teach specific aspects of PADI Courses and play a more active role in assisting Instructors with entry level and continuing education level training under direct and indirect supervision.

It is and excellent "stepping stone" to the OWSI Training portion of the IDC and the PADI IE.  Furthermore it can be conducted separately in order that you can build confidence, develop instructional techniques, hone dive skills and improve leadership qualities whilst having the benefit of an experienced instructor as your "Scuba Sensei" taking you through the course. Many PADI instructors take this route to qualify and many dive centres insist that all their residential staff spend time as an Assistant Instructor.
